General Information

There are 2 terminals at Gatwick Airport. The North Terminal handles British Airways, Aer Lingus, Air France, Delta Air Lines and Iberia flights, amongst others. A limited number of charter flights also use the North Terminal.

The South Terminal handles the majority of Gatwick's traffic, serving domestic, international and charter flights.

London Gatwick is 45kms (28 miles) south of London, directly linked to the M23 motorway at junction 9 and to the A23 London-Brighton road. Just a 10 minute drive away, the M25 further connects with the UK's extensive road and motorway network.

The Gatwick Express train service offers high-speed travel between Central London and Gatwick Airport, and it takes just 30 minutes from London Victoria to Gatwick (35 minutes on Sundays).

Local bus services run direct to and from both Gatwick terminals into Crawley, Horley and Redhill, as well as other local destinations.

Gatwick is connected to over 400 towns and cities across the UK by a variety of frequent, daily coach services. Most airport services are in air-conditioned vehicles. Some of the direct services available include those to Heathrow, London, Bristol, Brighton, Birmingham, Oxford. Cambridge and Norwich. National Express and Oxford Bus Company coaches operate from the upper terminal forecourt. A majority of services also call at North Terminal, on the lower level outside International Arrivals. The Heathrow-Gatwick National Express services drop passengers off right outside Departures at the North Terminal.

If you have a special need, it is recommended that you:
Compare the arrangements offered by different airlines before making your booking;
Be sure to check whether the cost of any special assistance is included in the price of your ticket;
Inform your airline of your particular needs in good time;
Check the policy of your airline if you wish to remain in your own wheelchair to the aircraft door rather than transfer to an airline wheelchair at check-in;
Bear in mind that there are often long walking distances within airports.
Induction loops are found in various locations, such as in reserved seating areas for special needs passenger and at information desks to allow easier conversation.
Payphones and credit card telephones are available in all parts of the airport and are adapted for hearing aids. There are also text pay phones available within the terminal buildings.
Guide and hearing dogs are allowed in the terminal buildings.

Each Arrivals concourse has an information desk, where multi-lingual staff are on hand to deal with enquiries 24 hours a day.

Airport Hotels

Staying in an airport hotel on the night before your departure date enables you to have a more relaxing start to your holiday - if you are travelling by car, no travel delays stuck in traffic or bad weather, so no pressure about missing your flight. It can also save money on parking, as hotel + parking often works out at only a few pounds more than a room alone, or sometimes the package works out cheaper than the parking charges alone.

Airport hotels include the London Gatwick Hilton Hotel at the South Terminal, and Le Meridien London Gatwick Hotel at the North Terminal. The Travel Inn is a five-minute walk from the North Terminal. Other nearby hotels include the Gatwick Moat House, Ramada Plaza Gatwick, Holiday Inn Gatwick, Renaissance Gatwick, Gatwick Belmont and Holidan Inn Express.

The short stay car park is recommended for stays up to five hours, for example, when you want to see off or meet someone from a flight. Both South and North terminals has its own short stay car park with a covered walkway just a few yards from the entrance.

Long term parking both at the North and South terminals, offers a transfer service to the terminal every seven to ten minutes, with a transfer time of approximately five minutes.

Fast Track parking is for the business traveller who wishes to get to the terminals quickly, with under cover parking and the fastest most convenient link into the terminal building. Both South and North terminals have their own dedicated Fast Track car parks.

Valet parking is where a chauffeur meets you on the departures forecourt and parks your car for you. When you return, your car is delivered to the lower ground floor ready for you to drive off immediately.
