General Information
Manchester Airport is 10 miles south of Manchester city centre. There is a good network by road and public transport. Manchester Airport is ideally situated halfway between London and Edinburgh, 80 miles from Birmingham and 60 miles from Leeds. The airport lies off junction 5 of the M56 motorway, which connects with the M60 (Manchester?s ring road) at junction 4. Directions for all terminals are clearly signposted.
For those who are using Public Transport, there is a dedicated transport interchange, The Station, which is open 24 hours and links trains, coaches and buses into one building, and it is connected to all terminals by Skylink moving walkways, lifts and escalators. The Station provides a variety of services for passengers including comfortable waiting areas, terminal and flight information, currency exchange and retail and catering outlets.
Trains operate to Manchester Airport from many stations in northern England and the Midlands. There is a frequent service between the airport and Manchester Piccadilly Station in the city centre, which has connections to most major destinations.
A number of National Express services run from The Station to various destinations throughout the UK.
Manchester airport cater for the disabled passenger. They offer wheelchairs and ambulift for access to aircraft. There are induction loops at various points in the terminals. Several members of staff are trained in British Sign Language.
The Playcare Centre offers a chance for young children to play or watch TV in a special children's area. Located in the departure lounge in Terminal 1 and open 24 hours a day. Children need to be supervised by parents at all times.
Also Art Desks are at most eating areas, these enable children to colour in and play.
There are various business facilities, including conference and banqueting facilities, meeting/training rooms, at the Ringway Suite in Terminal 2, ?Fastlane?, which enables quicker check in through departures and business lounges. Fax facilities are now available at information desks in all terminals. Wireless hotspots mean you can now access the internet via your laptop or PDA (as long as you have the appropriate technology). If you do not have wireless technology already installed on your laptop wireless access cards are available to buy in Dixons.
At the NHS Walk In Centre, located in the walkway between Terminals 1 and 3, the dedicated staff offer first aid and advice to all passengers free of charge. It is open Monday - Friday 08.00 - 16.00.
Multi-faith Prayer Rooms, open 24 hours a day, can be found in the walkway between terminals 1 and 3. The Prayer Room in Terminal 2 is located on the departures concourse. The Airport Chaplaincy offers a range of services to support both passengers and airport staff. It is situated in the walkway between Terminals 1 and 3 next to the prayer rooms. WUDU/Wash facilities are available both before and after security in Terminal 2 and in the link corridor between Terminals 1 and 3.
Tourist information centres are situated in the Arrivals areas of Terminals 1 and 2. There are also information desks situated in all terminals.

Airport Parking
There are 14,000 spaces in short- and long-term parking facilities.
The short-stay multi-storey parking lots are close to Terminals 1, 2 and 3.
Long-term parking is recommended for any stay over 6 hours. Pre-booking, with discounts offered, is available online. A regular courtesy shuttle bus operates from the long-term car parks to all terminals. It is also possible to have chauffeured parking. Each and every car park at Manchester is totally secure and is regularly monitored.
The most convenient method of parking is the "Meet & Greet" service, which allows you to drive up to the airport terminal and your car is securely parked for you at our nearby secure compound, then on your return your car is waiting for you outside Manchester airport terminal.
There is disabled parking in all car parks. In Short Stay Car Parks, the disabled spaces are next to the lifts. Wheelchair assistance is provided by the airlines, arrangements should be requested at the time of booking your fight or holiday. In Long Stay Car Parks, there are disabled bays available close to the entrance or reception office. Alternative parking can be arranged in the short stay car park at prices subject to the method of booking you require.

Check In
It is normally recommended that you arrive at the airport 2 hours before your departure time.
Hand luggage should not exceed 7 kilos and must not contain any sharp objects, replica guns, etc. You should also not take anywhere in your luggage such items as flammable or poisonous liquids, etc.(see below for a more comprehensive list).
Security Information
All passengers and hand luggage will be searched before entering the Departure Lounge. Enhanced security can take time, so please be patient with any additional personal and luggage searches and please carry only one piece of hand luggage.

Airline Lounges
There are lounges in each of the 3 terminals.
In terminal 1, there is the Globe Ground Executive Lounge is for first class passengers, either by invitation or loyalty card, who are travelling with specific airlines, including Lufthansa, Monarch, Portugalia, Iberia, Emirates, Turkish, Air Canada, Lott, Aurigny, City Airlines, Aer Lingus, Luxair, bmi Transatlantic. Children are permitted but must be well behaved. This lounge is open Mon.-Sun. 05.00 - 21.00. The Servisair Executive Lounge is open to anyone, subject to availability and the appropriate fee. Children are permitted to use the lounge but must be well behaved. The lounge is open Monday ? Sunday 05.00 ? 19.30
In terminal 2, there is the Escape lounge, open to all passengers. Escape is separated into three zones: The Comfort Zone, where you can choose from a comprehensive selection of snacks and beverages throughout the day;
The Oasis of Calm, which has modern d?cor and comfortable seating, and a unique water feature to make this a calming environment;
The Hot Desk Area, where you can use phones, faxes, internet access, photocopying and more.
There is also a separate smoking area and lift access is nearby. Children under 8 are not permitted. The Escape lounge is open Monday - Sunday 06.00 - 20.00.
There is also the Air France/Delta Executive Lounge, which is open to First/Business Class passengers of Air France, Delta and CSA flights. If you hold a high level card with Korean Air, Alitalia or Aero Mexico, and you are travelling on a Skyteam flight you can also gain access to the lounge. This lounge is open Monday ? Sunday 05.00 ? 19.30
Finally, in terminal 2, there is the Servisair Executive Lounge, which is open to anyone. Passengers are advised to book in advance. Subject to availability and the appropriate fee, the facilities are also open to all passengers. Children are permitted to use the lounge but must be well behaved. This lounge is open Monday ? Sunday 05.00 ? 19.30.
In terminal 3, there is the bmi Executive Lounge, next to Gate 18, which is only available to bmi First and Business Class passengers and Star Alliance Gold Card holders who are travelling on a Star Alliance flight. This lounge is open Monday ? Sunday 05.00 ? 21.00.
Finally, the British Airways Terrace Lounge, which is open to all Gold and Silver Executive card holders as well as Oneworld Equivalent card holders and First and Business Class passengers. Business Class passengers on all BA UK domestic flights can also access the lounge. This lounge is open Monday ? Sunday 05.30 ? 20.00

There are many outlets for food and drink and shopping in all 3 terminals, and some at The Station (the hub of public transport travelling). Terminal 1 has been recently refurbished and there is great choice. There is even a hairdresser in Terminal 3.
