Airport Security
Car Park Security
In October 2001, the ACPO – Association of Chief Police Officers, launched
the Secured Car Parks Award scheme, administered by the British Parking Association.
This was to raise security and reduce car crime. To be awarded a Secured Car
Park award, the car park must obtain a strict set of standards, including good
design and management, an effective level of security patrols, good lighting
and the provision of help points. Airport car parks are particularly busy from
04.30 to 0800 and this is a potential time for accidents and the opportunist
car thief.
Some of those standards are:
Good Surveillance, such as CCTV, will deter criminals;
Security guards on duty 24 hours a day in highly visible clothing;
Open plan lay out with no hiding places, such as dark corners, screening,
buildings or trees;
See through fences to maximize security and visibility;
Good quality lighting is essential. All areas need to be clearly visible,
and the use of illuminated pathways is also recommended;
Parking areas should be in clearly defined rows with a one-way system, and
with adequate bays allocated for arriving traffic, which should be separated
from the outgoing traffic.
Website Security
The website has been fully tested to ensure all transactions are secure.
This means that information, such as your name, address and card details, is
encrypted. Information passed between your computer and our Web site cannot
be read in the event someone else intercepts it.
The risk of credit card fraud is 100 times greater when you hand your card to the waiter in a restaurant, for example, than when you shop on the Internet! Modern day encryption technology, used by many Internet stores similar to ourselves, virtually eliminates credit card fraud on the Internet.
