Spain is the first European country to require personal information of all travellers going to Spain BEFORE you fly it is expected that other European countries will follow suit over the next 12 months. Known as API the Advanced Passenger Information Regime, the Airlines are now instructed to pass on information about all passengers to be collected by Travel Agent, on-line booking or by the Airline at Check in prior to your departure.
The information you will be asked to supply that will be forwarded to the Spanish Immigration Authorities will be:-
- Full Name
- Nationality
- Date of Birth
- Passport Number
This is not any more than you would expect to offer upon arrival at immigration and of course all such information is on your passport but from the 13th of June this information will be forwarded in advance to the Spanish Authorities for checking prior to your departure. So be prepared to give it.
